The Difference Between Being a Survivor and Victor

Surviving Sucks

I have learned that healing from abuse must become a priority, not an option.

There are many reasons to heal from the things that you remember suffering from in your past. I don’t have to tell you that they affect and infect the very fabric of your life. Often during the healing process we learn about ourselves in a deeper way that we ever imagined, and we began to embrace the parts of us that are so inspiring, often confused for weaknesses.

I totally encourage you to take the time in your busy schedules to become a better you. To be more aware of your purpose. I am not speaking only about what you are here to do, but who you are.

In order for you to ever be a person of impact, you will need to be impacted. Burdens will have to not longer be barriers, and peace will be your power.

As a woman with a child who spent three years homeless, I understand what surviving can mean. It means that in the face of darkness you are choosing to withstand its suffering to bear light. You move without understanding, using blind faith as a compass, and you hope everyday that your challenges will end like a laxative.

When someone is in survival mode, they often cannot think outside of their crisis, as they are weathering storms. This process is no different from facing a natural disaster. You won’t be thinking of the next opportunity to grocery shop, or attend choir rehearsal.

But when you break through, there are often remnants of the mindset of survival which in your new season will put you in bondage. You must leave survival in the season where it was necessary, and enter the light that has come to carry you into the next part of your experience.

Michael-Jordan

I have survived, but I choose not to be a survivor. I have learned that victory is that feeling when your favorite team or athlete finishes what they’ve set out to accomplish. I’ll never forget when Michael Jordan won with the Chicago Bulls. I cried as if the victory were mine. There are people waiting, watching, moving in your rhythm, telling their friends to tune in to your station because seeing you win will tear down years of defeat for them.

How dare we not BE. Extraordinary!
