A night out with Monarch Magazine

Ressurrection and Paul Wharton at Monarch Magazine Event at J.Crew Georgetown

Monarch by definition means supreme ruler; exceptionally powerful person: somebody, especially a king or queen, who rules a state or territory, usually for life and by hereditary right

Tonight I have the exclusive pleasure of attending the Monarch Magazine fashion event, hosted by J. Crew with contributions from Paul Wharton, stylist to the stars; nicknamed “the sixth housewife” on the housewives of D.C., and Melissa Dawn Johnson and Branding expert and Lifestyle strategist.

Washington DC had light snow today. After last year’s snow conundrum people want to pretend that snow is no big deal.  Who are these people? Snow, still turns to ice, even if it’s not deep enough to reach my waist like last year.

The very last thing I wanted to do was wash my hair and then show up to an event with my hair dripping wet, while the weather remained cold. However, the streets were clear. I had no reason, or excuse to stay home. Alas, a friend said, “No, you’re going.” She went on to tell me about how another friend missed a gig with young money for the birth of his niece. I stopped her ranting with total compliance.

I imagined myself wrapped in swaddling clothes, being served some tea under the covers after re-twisting my locks of righteousness as I will nickname them for this blog. But the positive peer pressure to make it to M st. for what could be a life changing opportunity outweighed my herbal tea motivation.

I’m always open to meeting new people. The room was very standoffish, and it was not my crowd to say the least. A few people looked at me as if they did not understand why I was talking to them. Well, if you know me, you know what I said, “Hi, I’m Ressurrection,” nuff said. I am no fashion expert, and I’m okay with that :). I have my own style, and tonight my style said, “I’m wearing these black tennis shoes because their comfy; it’s ichy outside.”

I have spent extensive time with wealthy men and women, billionaires, millionaires and a variety of professionals, who offer their wisdom, connections, friendship, and positive attitude in a warm and approachable spirit.

If you really want to be amazing, stay humble. Make sure your thoughts and judgments are not on your face because you should not judge a book by it’s cover, and those who do will often overlook the books with the vital information that they need in it. You don’t have to pay me for that marketing tip, I’ll give you that one complimentary.

While we are on that topic, the name of my book is Identity Crisis, Identity Christ Is: A Journey to Love if you get stuck on the word Christ, you will miss the journey  just as, if you get stuck on the name Ressurrection as many people do, they miss the opportunity to have a powerful relationship. The meaning of Resurrection is to Stand up, Stand out and to Be set apart. The action of Resurrection is to die and come back to life. Without offering an exhaustive explanation as I do in my book, the heart has one part of it that pumps blood away from it and into the entire body, while the other part of the heart brings blood back to it to be cleansed and redistributed as new pure blood, Resurrection.

After scoping the scene at J. Crew, and seeing that people gravitated to their own comfort zones, I started engaging in my own party, Meet Ressurrection.

We came for style ideas right? And, the 25% off shopping opportunity with J.Crew for the night. J.Crew’s clothing was trendy, sophisticated, and clean. I loved the trendy outfits, and the styles offered for both men and women.

I believe that whenever I go somewhere, there is a divine connection just waiting for me. I did not meet the publisher to exchange writing ideas, and to tell him why I would be awesome as a contributor for the magazine, however, I kept busy meeting other business professionals who made the same decision, to fight “the hawk”, ignore the snow, and support Monarch for the night.

I met a beautiful, intelligent gentleman to my delighted surprise. After tasting a sweet tomato with some green avocado based dip stuffed inside, I made a quick run for the door.

Monarch’s presentation was awesome. Melissa Dawn Johnson was fantastic to listen to, and provided helpful styling hints, and other business etiquette nuggets. Here is a short peak:

And, style Extraordinaire Paul Wharton was just as calm spirited, polished, and relaxed as his outfit suggested. Overrall, this was an awesome experience, and with more of the right folks who engage with one another, work the room and make connections that will forward their businesses, I may attend another event like this sponsored by Monarch. As Chad Anderson mentioned during his introduction, Monarch seeks to expose the Business Professional Lifestyle of affluent African Americans.

In there current issue, Dwayne Wade is handsomely pictured with a gray striped suit with pink accents. I may have discussed in the past how much I detest a man in pink, but at least for this picture it’s very gratifying to look at. Inside of the magazine there are a number of stories that you will want to read. The one story that caught my attention, Master P. He is worth so much more money than his fame. Check out Monarch in any local Barnes and Noble or where magazines are sold.
