After much political controversy over Bush and Obama, and the many presidential elections that stood before, I was inspired to write a poem about how to choose who to vote for. We get so caught up in agendas that sometimes we forget how to make our decisions.
DECISIONS
Sometimes we are alone in a place where open thoughts can abide.
Where significance can reside on the inside of your being,
so dilapidated spaces can be reevaluated, and
construction of broken down places in time can resume insurrection/
We gotta change to see what we desire,
Instead of waiting on people to commit to our terms-
We gotta see ourselves in an optimum position,
Fixing our attitudes so important decisions are not left unattended
In hands paralyzed by ignorance; our immaturity is diligent-
And our minds become besieged, suicidal at best-
cause we become selfish fools consumed by lifelessness (within).
Instead of being the light, being the ambassador-
we forfeit our rights by being mediocre with great excuses-
we possess a Kingdom inside though resist its strength
We take moments and spend them like paper
but end our relationships,
over decisions with money that we’re making-
when do we challenge ourselves to define our understanding
by the divine’s truth so that our flow
is not concurrent with confusion?
In other words, what formula are we usin’? /
Cause we have thoughts about elections where parties should win-
Instead of seeking God to understand his heart on the matters-
in fact we think it’s our right to choose and we vote for our choice-
without a conversation with the most high, that’s like having just
anybody standing up for you in court-
It’s like a judge himself inattentive- cause we already know
that most judges don’t have to hear the case
before they already made their decision./
So campaign is for the cause…
that you would hear directly from the throne of God./
