To answer this question, it may require you to put on your thinkers hat for a moment. I want you to imagine that you are the key person at an elite marketing firm. A client walks in and you have to pitch the idea that your marketing company has come up with to create a viral campaign for a product, service and/or the client themselves which would fall into the branding category.
Now, imagine that the client that you are working for is you! What about you is it that you would like to go viral this year? I am not asking you your beliefs or your chants for righteousness’ sake. I am asking you if you were to leave a mark this year, what would that mark say?
This year for me is the year of the writer. I have always been a writer but have been reluctant to associate myself with that title. Something happened in writing my memoir, Identity Crisis, Identity Christ is: A Journey to Love. I begin to feel comfortable in my skin with sharing my thoughts in Chicago style format.
A published poet since the age of 12, I have disassociated myself away from the idea of performance poetry. I am a poet absolutely, but I do not say that I am a Spoken Word artist. I have place in every competition, but that is because I’m a good writer and I am competitive. Something rises to the occasion when I am required to be fully present in a moment. I am dependable.
As an artist I am completely connected to the creative outlet of writing. There is an emotional high and valley low where I can go to ride the current and flow in my element. I don’t write with others’ permission in mind, I right from a place of subconsciousness that liberty awakens.
As a business owner, I think strategically about a creative idea. I take the artist road, and then double back to pick up the strategic part of me that gets directly to the point. I ask myself questions about my mission and my purpose. The distinctions of your mission and your purpose are the first things that you learn when writing a business plan.
The last thing that you learn to write in a business plan is your Executive Summary. However, your Executive Summary is the first thing that investors, and your key people will see to run with your vision. Why is this important? In business, after the fun part which is writing the ideas, you have to strategically determine how you will implement those ideas.
As the question suggests, you then need to market your plans, and how your market will determine how the world will embrace your brand.
We as people, and as creative business owners want to stay true to who we are, creating and implementing authentically because we believe that we are what make the difference in whether you choose our product, service or brand.
As a person I want my strength to go viral this year. I have specific words that I use in my vocabulary, which can be associated directly with me like, “Invincible, Super-natural, BE. Extraordinary, and Intimacy” These are examples of what I believe in.
My virus this year is my name, Ressurrection which means to stand up; to stand out; to be set apart.
I believe that I will manifest this experience because I am ready. I am ready to tell my story and to be unapologetic about it. I am ready to embrace my experiences and have learned from them. I am ready to become more of who I am purposed to be. I empower people to see who they really are, not according to their personal thoughts, but according to being the apple of God’s eye.
This year, what will go viral is me. The beautiful person that has been bombarded by circumstances too much to truly live in the moment, will abandon these obstacles to take the belly dancing, African dancing, chess and scrabble game night, spa attending, life happening classes, workshops and fun that I have been missing.
I have spent my life totally devoted to business, and am realizing now that I have missed social environments that bring out balance for me. I love live music and if I could just go to one concert a month and lose my voice, I would be the happiest woman alive.
Back to Business: I want people to read my book, and make reference to it with quotes that bring epiphany, and revelation to their own personal lives so that while others read my story, they receive a shift in their own, to move closer to their own freedom.
To be viral, I must shock someone. Anytime Antoine Dodson can make a song about his sister being attacked in the night and almost raped, who became viral with over 6 million views, winning an award, and duplicate video parodies on You Tube, we are in an age where people are responding to shock the same way people laugh at things that they do not understand.
To be viral and stay, I must offer a solution to a problem. Mike Murdock says, “You have no value until you solve a problem.” He continues, “Your success is produced through your difference. Your sameness creates your comfort, but your difference creates your reward.”
So I challenge you this year, to find your difference, locate a problem and solve it. Your reward will be your virus that will tell others that you are a solution provider, which will identify your true target market.
You may find a problem within yourself, and by solving it, your reward will be a change in what you attract, bringing you what you have been believing God for.
This is one of my all time favorite songs. Listen to the words! What is within you will make the lame walk, the blind see, open’s prison doors and sets the captives free!
