How to get the very most of your Grocery Store Savings at Giant Food!

As a single mother, or a shopper in a two parent household, we are always looking for opportunities to put our money in the right places to care for our families. Single people often don’t have these same concerns as they eat more expensively or even less conscientious of their health, stocking up on Oodles and Noodles and Bon Bons!

If you’ve been reading any of my blog posts over the last year, you know that I have been through some things. But today is a new day! I finally found a job, and have been working in my promoted position since this past Saturday! I’m embracing this part of my journey because I know that there is purpose even in this season. I believe that my now, is connected to what I am called to do and to be in the future. I’m in love, and that is a beautiful thing. He’s an amazing fellow and is journeying a similar path.

But you didn’t come to my blog today for a sappy love story did you? No, you want the goods! You want to know about these secrets that I’ve found which can prove to be useful to anyone who is looking to find extra bucks in their wallet at the end of the month. I will keep you in suspense no longer.

My heart wanted these resources publicized for the downtrodden, and the homeless person without enough food stamps or money at the end of the month. While you look for a new job, and try to overcome all of the obstacles life can throw your way, these resources will aide you in sustaining yourself.

Giant Food, a company based out of Landover, Maryland is a grocery store with a few policies which include No-Hassle, and accepting competitive coupons.

Let me Explain- Giant Food reminds me of Nordstrom in that they will go above and beyond the call of duty to express their commitment to excellent customer service and to build a long term relationship with the customer.

Customer Service is a part of their brand. They will except your return on items up to $20 without a receipt. If it is over that you may have your return put on a gift card. Why is this helpful? Are you frustrated with buying something from the store and it not be as fresh as you imagined? God forbid mold or something. Realistically, it happens.

And some people feel uncomfortable coming back to the store where they purchased because they don’t want to argue with the customer service counter over $5! Well, Giant’s Hassle-Free policy will help you to eliminate those woes and to get what your really want out of your shopping experience.

The other resource I wanted to mention is Giant’s Competitive coupon policy. In my area, I would say that Giant and Harris Teeter lead in high priced items. Of course, the customer service, quality of the store and merchandise contribute to the pricing I am sure. This is my personal shopping observation. Giant accepts Safeway, Harris Teeter, Shoppers, and any other coupons that challenge and item that you are purchasing in your local Giant store. That means that you can get your favorite Orange Juice for $2 less if that is the difference between your competitor’s coupon and your Giant price.

Additionally, sometimes Harris Teeter may give out a coupon $10 off a $40 purchase. Did you know that if you spend $40 in Giant they will honor your coupon from Harris Teeter.

As a side note, instead of shop-lifting as many people do in really hard times, you can be creative, resourceful, LEGAL even. It will take weight off of you, and empower you as you rightfully sustain yourself!

These are tricks of the trade that I have been learning as I embark on this new journey in my life. My career has changed, my man, my body, I mean everything has changed! But, I believe that because I didn’t cave in or lose my mind when I certainly could have, and because of the amazing support system that acted as a barrier of love and strength around me, I have not only come out, but I’m coming into a new season with new hope and new promises.

Now, here is my disclaimer. I am not advocating you to hoard food or become a coupon junkie, King or Queen. My rules are that you only use coupons on food that you are going to buy anyway. This prevents you from spending what you wanted to save for your family, to apply to something else.

Ooops! I almost forgot a nugget for the road. Giant is connected to Shell gasoline. So, when you shop with Giant, you get cents off PER GALLON! That is right! I know someone who got seventy-two cents off per gallon. That means they were at $2.59 per gallon when the average in this area is about $3.74. Now, how do you like them apples?

As always…
