What are you doing the rest of your life? North and South, and East and West of your life? I have only one request of your life, that you spend it all with me.
All the seasons and times of your days, all the nickels and the dimes of your days, that the reasons and thymes of your days all begin and end with me.
I want to see you face in every kind of light. In fields of gold, and forest of the night. And when you stand before the candles on a cake, oh let me be the one to hear the silent wish you make.
Those tomorrows waiting deep in your eyes, in the world of love you keep in your eyes. I’ll awaken what’s asleep in your eyes, it may take a kiss or two.
And, all of my life, summer, winter, spring and fall of my life, all I ever will recall of my life, is all of my life with you.
Songwriters/Music By: Michel Legrand; Lyrics: Alan Bergman and Marilyn Bergman
This song is so much like a beautiful poem. It was sang by greats such as Sarah Vaughn and Frank Sinatra. I could not pick a favorite version. However, the one below this text is the video that I stumbled upon in which I first ever heard the song and fell in love. I then went searching for the original version, and found that many people had sang their own rendition, and while Fantasia‘s version was amazing, something about the below version by Alexia Gardner is so fantastically calculated and clear in expression that it captured me. It’s eloquent.
I am dedicating this song to my love. May our lives fill notebooks, drench text books with envy- provide balm to a dying nation, apprehend unforgiveness, and win totally and completely in love. – Ressurrection
